Impulse Corporation Ltd, a leading industrial computing system integrator and Microsoft Windows Embedded Silver Partner, is pleased to announce the launch of the ARK-1120 embedded PC from Advantech. The ARK-1120 is an ultra compact, fanless system, powered by the high performance Intel Atom N455 processor, paired with the Intel ICH8-M chipset. It supports the latest DDR3 SODIMM memory allowing for exceptional computing performance.
The ARK-1120 has a small physical footprint whilst maintaining an impressive I/O offering. The ARK-1120 I/O count includes four USB2.0 ports and two RS-232 serial ports and the networking capabilities include a high performance 10/100/1000Base-T Gigabit Ethernet port powered by the Intel 82567V chipset featuring Wake-on-LAN functionality as standard. For added expansion capability, the ARK-1120 features a half-size Mini PCIe socket allowing users to include additional features such as GPS, WiFi or HSDPA/3G. Flexible storage options are also available via the built-in 2.5” SATA hard drive bay (9.5mm height only) and on-board CompactFlash type I/II socket.
The ARK-1120 utilises the latest Intel Atom N455 embedded processor featuring a clock speed of 1.66GHz and 512KB of L2 cache. The Atom N455 includes an integrated graphics processor performing at 200MHz and an integrated memory controller that supports up to 2GB of DDR3 SODIMM memory. The processor features Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, SSE2, SSE3 and SSSE3 instruction set extensions and enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology enabling the CPU to adjust its voltage and frequency in tandem between high and low levels in response to processor load. When the load on the CPU is minimal, it can dynamically reduce its voltage and frequency to produce less heat and consume less power making the ARK-1120 a perfect fit for embedded applications.
The ultra compact ARK-1120 features an efficiently designed IP40 rugged aluminium chassis that measures in at just W133mm x H43mm x D94mm and weighs only 0.7kg. For added convenience the ARK-1120 can be mounted on a wall via a VESA bracket or on the back of a VESA compatible monitor or display. The rugged yet compact design of the ARK-1120 makes it an ideal solution for use as a machine or factory automation system.
